In tight movements, nickel futures traded a shade lower at Rs 569.30 per kg today as participants reduced their exposure amid a weak trend overseas.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in January fell 30 paise, or 0.05 per cent, to Rs 569.30 per kg, in a business turnover of 6,224 lots.
Globally, nickel dropped 1.5 per cent at the London Metal Exchange.
Market analysts said besides subdued spot demand at the domestic market, a weak trend in base metals amid continued speculation that China's economic slowdown and financial market volatility will roil metals markets, weighed on nickel futures prices here.
