Nickel futures traded a shade lower at Rs 1,021.20 per kg today as speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak trend overseas and subdued domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in November shed Rs 1.30, or 0.02%, to Rs 1,021.20 per kg in a business turnover of four lots.

The metal for delivery in October also fell by 50 paise, or 0.01%, to Rs 1,014.80 per kg in a turnover of 560 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in nickel prices at futures trade was mostly in tune with a weakening trend in metal overseas amidst signs of European slowdown and subdued demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot markets.
