At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in January moved up by Rs 3.70, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 1,017.90 per kg in business turnover of 2 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in current month gained Rs 2.20, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 1,010.30 per kg in 305 lots.
Market analysts said besides pick-up in demand from consuming industries, a firm trend in the global market led to rise in nickel prices at futures trade.
