On the global front, industrial metal copper sank to the lowest in two weeks in early trade at the LME after strong US jobs data fuelled expectations of a mid-year rate hike which pushed up the dollar.
Nickle spurted by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,040 from last saturday's closing level of Rs 1,030.
Zinc moved up to Rs 2 per kg to Rs 172 from overnight closing level of Rs 170 and lead inched up by Rs 134 per kg.
