Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid near Parsi colony at Matunga in central Mumbai yesterday by Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) officials when the accused Izee Obaasi Christofer was found moving suspiciously in the area, police said.
Christofer was surrounded by the officials and 13.5 kg amphetamine powder was found in his possession, police said.
The 34-year-old Nigerian accused was subsequently taken into custody, police said, adding that he had come here to sell the drug to his potential customer.
"We are trying to ascertain that customer and the person from whom the accused got the delivery," a police officer said, adding that, "the value of the drugs in the international market is about Rs 13.5 crore."
Christofer was booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police added.
