A 45-year-old autorickshaw driver has been arrested in connection with the alleged molestation of a Nigerian woman in a moving autorickshaw near west Delhi's Shahpura, police said today.
While Aagya Pal Singh has been arrested, the co-accused in the case, his brother Baljeet Singh, is still at large. The duo are residents of west Delhi's Tilak Nagar area, they said.
According to police, the incident took place in the wee hours of Friday when the woman was headed to a friend's place in Shahpura. She took one of two autorickshaws which she saw parked on the road but, when she entered the vehicle, the driver of the second autorickshaw got in behind her.
She was thereafter allegedly molested on the way, said police.
In her complaint, the woman told police that she had tried to jump off the moving vehicle but the duo prevented her from doing so. Finally, one of the duo threw her off the vehicle before they drove off.
The woman, who sustained injuries, called up police and was rushed to DDU Hospital for treatment.
"In the preliminary inquiry it was found that on the fateful night two persons -- namely Aagya Pal Singh and Baljeet Singh -- were present at a late hour with their autorickshaws near the place of incident of the crime.
"Upon a specific input, Aagya Pal Singh was tracked down yesterday. On being interrogated, he admitted that he had committed the crime with his brother. Efforts are on to nab the other accused," DCP (West) Pushpendra Kumar said.
