Nine booked for murdering rape accused

A 30-year-old youth, accused of rape, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people at a village in neighbouring Shamli district, police said today.
Ajith, the deceased youth, had allegedly raped a woman at her house in Kheri Khush Nam village of Shamli yesterday. He was later held by her relatives who beat him up before handing over to the police, said Jhinjhana SHO Kamal Singh.
Ajith was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries later, police said.
An FIR was filed by Dhirsingh, uncle of the deceased and a case has been registered against one Prathap Singh, Amit, Radha, Joni, Shyam Singh and four other unidentified persons, the SHO said
Family of the woman has also filed a rape case against the deceased Ajith and one another, added the officer.
The body has been sent for postmortem.
Security has been tightened in the village, police said.
