Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at the houses of one Bhole and Pappu yesterday, Station Officer Nayagaon, Jagpal Singh said.
Nine cows were rescued from the houses, he said, adding that the accused were absconding.
A case has been registered against the duo under Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1955, police said.
The bovines were allegedly being readied to be taken to a slaughterhouse by the duo, Singh said.
The villagers informed the police that the duo was into animal slaughtering business.
