Chairman of the Legislative Council, Ganesh Shanker Pandey administered oath to the newly elected members in the presence of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also a member of the Upper House of the state legislature.
Except for the three Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) members and Ramesh Yadav of SP, all the newly elected members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council took the oath.
Recently, 12 members, namely Ahmad Hasan, Ramesh Yadav, Ramjatan Rajbhar, Sahab Singh Saini, Ashok Bajpai, Virendra Singh Gurjar, Sarojini Agarwal and Ashu Malik (SP), Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Dharmveer Ashok and Pradeep (BSP) and Lakshman Acharya (BJP) got elected from the Assembly constituency, while one Arun Pathak was elected from Kanpur-Unnao Teachers' constituency.
