Students of National Institute Of Technology (NIT), Srinagar today held a protest here, sticking to their demand for action against those police officials involved in baton charging non-local students and permanent deployment of CRPF in the campus.
A group of non local students also boycotted the classes which started today, saying they will continue with protests till their demands are met.
Raising slogans against the Union Ministry for Human Resources Development, the students claimed they are being punished by the police for raising the national flag in the NIT campus.
"When the local students were raising anti-India slogans and celebrating India's defeat in the T-20 world cup, we raised the tricolour to show our love for our motherland but we were beaten by the police for doing this," said a non local NIT student.
The non local NIT students also urged the residents of Jammu and other parts of the country to support them for the "nationalistic cause".
Another student claimed police failed to act when the non local students were threatened to death by the locals.
"Our sisters were threatened to be raped by the locals, but the police did not act, instead they made us prisoners inside the college campus," he said.
On Saturday, over 300 students including NIT students had carried out a protest march from Press Club to Science College here in support of their demands.
They had also demanded reshuffling of college administration immediately and restructuring of NIT Srinagar administration by introducing cadre system.
