Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today expressed grief over the alleged suicide committed by an army veteran on the issue of implementation of 'One Rank One Pension' (OROP) scheme and slammed the NDA government at the Centre for the tragedy.
"The incident (suicide by ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal) reflects the Centre's 'double standard' towards soldiers," he said in a statement here.
The Centre, he said, should comprehensively look into demands made by soldiers.
The JD(U) President also strongly criticised the role played by Delhi police in the episode.
"The action taken by Delhi police on the issue cannot be justified," he said.
The Delhi police had detained and prevented Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other opposition leaders from entering a hospital to meet the kin of the ex-serviceman.
Ram Kishan Grewal, 70, an ex-serviceman had ended his life on Tuesday by consuming poison on the lawns of a government building at Janpath in the heart of the national capital.
Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the alleged suicide committed by ex-serviceman.
