Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that a total of 1.66 lakh complaints were lodged under the state's grievance redressal law in one year and 1.42 lakh out of them sorted out.
The Nitish Kumar government had launched Public Grievance Redressal Act on June 5, 2016 which coincided with Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan "total revolution" day with an intent to strengthen good governance in the state.
The CM was speaking a function to celebrate completion of one year of the Act, stated to be the first of its kind in the country.
"A total of 1.66 lakh complaints were lodged under the legislation in one year since June 5, 2016 till date and out of this 1.42 lakh cases resolved," he said.
"I saw citizens grievance pertaining to electricity bill, solution of land dispute and revenue receipt solved successfully under the Act," he said.
For implementation of the Act, "Lok Sikhayat Nivaran Kendra" (Public Grievances Redressal Centre) has been opened at district and sub-division levels across the state, where a person could submit his application and a complaint would be redressed in a fixed time-frame.
The CM said that officials of different states visited Patna to see implementation of the Act.
"A Karnataka minister came here to study it while many other states have imitated the legislation," he said.
The CM awarded three officials linked with implementation of the Act for their good performance.
