Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today emphasised on skill development of youths in the state saying his government has set a target to train one crore people.
In 2013 the government had set a target to equip one crore people with skill in five years, Kumar said while addressing a skill conclave organised by labour department in partnership with CII.
The CM said that the state formulated a skill development mission and linked it with 17 departments.
Stressing on skill development for generating employment for the youths, Kumar identified great job potential in nursing, hotel business and catering among others in the state.
"The hotel business had almost halted after bifurcation of Jharkhand from Bihar. But with Bihar gaining development pace, the hotel business is peaking in the state. The tariff of room of Hotel Maurya in Patna is much higher than many posh hotels in Mumbai," Kumar said.
He said the departments could run skill development training centres in school and colleges in off time (after completion of study hours).
Kumar asked officials to commit themselves to the task.
"Officers shall not try to spend six months anyhow after which model code of conduct will be imposed in Bihar in view of Assembly poll. By doing so they will be betraying themselves," the CM said in strongly worded message to officials.
Labour minister Dulal Chand Goswami and President of CII Eastern region Anil Kumar Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
