Kumar spoke to his West Bengal counterpart and subsequently sent his emissary Sanjay Jha to Kolkata.
Jha, senior JD(U) leader and a former Bihar MLC, visited Abhishek Banerjee at Belle Vue Clinic in Kolkata today and conveyed Nitish Kumar's good wishes for his early recovery.
Mamata Banerjee thanked Kumar for the kind gesture, Jha told PTI over phone from Kolkata.
He said he also met Amit Banerjee, father of Abhishek Banerjee and brother of Mamata Banerjee and handed over a bouquet on behalf of Kumar.
Abhishek, who is also the TMC youth wing president, is an MP from Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal.
Nitish Kumar, who formally took over as JD(U) National President Sunday last at Rajgir, enjoys close relationship with TMC chief Mamata Banerjee.
Mamata Banerjee was among the top leaders who had attended the swearing-in-ceremony of the new Grand Secular Alliance ministry headed by Kumar in Bihar in November last year.
