The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to sanction an additional dearness allowance (DA) of ten per cent to state government employees effective from July last year.
NMC president Subash Shastri today impressed upon the Chief Minister, Finance Minister and the Chief Secretary to sanction the benefit to employees and pensioners at the ensuing cabinet meeting, as the same installment of DA has already been released by the Centre and several other states.
Addressing a meeting of NMC workers at New Plot Salehar near Arnia Town, Shastri said employees and pensioners are waiting for the release for over four months.
Provision for such expenditure exists in the current year's budget estimates and the government should take early decision in this regard which will further strengthen its bonds with the employees.
Shastri also demanded the removal of pay anomalies and merging of 50 per cent DA in the pay scale and basic pension till the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.
He stressed the increase in the emoluments of daily wagers by opting a clear policy about the regularisation of the wagers serving in various government departments for long.
Shastri also demanded enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month, besides release of 3rd installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears as rising prices of essential items have made life of pensioners and employees very difficult.
