NMDC commences production at Rs 600 cr Bailadila plant

Country's top iron ore producer NMDC today said it has commenced trial production at its over Rs 600 crore Bailadila plant in Chhattisgarh.
"NMDC takes pride in announcing that it has completed this (Bailadila) project having iron ore production capacity of 7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) with an investment decision of over Rs 600 crore," the state-run company said in a statement.
The company commenced "trial production of its new project Bailadila iron ore deposit 11 B located in Bailadila region of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on March 29."
CMD NMDC Narendra Kothari, who saw the trial run along with directors of the company, said, "This is one of the milestones in fulfilling NMDC's dream to produce more than 100 million tonnes of iron ore and help in achieving the nation's target of producing 300 million tonnes of steel."
The project has 3.5 km long single flight regenerative downhill belt conveying system with horizontal and vertical curves for its 7 MTPA operations besides high capacity cone crushers, the statement said.
The government has plans to treble India's steel production to 300 MT by 2025 from present 100 MT and iron ore is a key steel making raw material.
Shares of the company closed at Rs 129.30 a piece, up 3.19 per cent on the BSE from the previous close.
