Describing Nanda Raj Jat yatra as "the Kumbh of the Himalayas", Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna today said there will be no dearth of funds for successful conduct of the yatra held every 12 years.
Bahuguna, who held a meeting with officials here to review preparations for the yatra to be held on August 29 to September 16, said the event is linked with the prestige of Uttarakhand and all steps should be taken to ensure its successful conduct.
He asked officials to take the help of local leaders, NGOs, religious organisations and industrialists to see that the event does not run into any kind of financial hurdle.
Bahuguna asked Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain to create a separate fund for the yatra where institutions willing to contribute could submit their donations.
The Chief Minister said he will also extend invitation to President Pranab Mukherjee to grace the occasion.
He asked officials to beef up security along the yatra route and coordinate with their counterparts in neighbouring states to prevent any attempt by lumpen elements to disrupt the yatra.
Considering the difficult route of the yatra in the hills of Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Almora districts, enough medical teams be deployed in the area, he said and asked the officials concerned to be prepared to deal with any eventuality in view of the vulnerability of the high altitude area to natural calamities.
The yatra is a famous festival of Uttarakhand in which people from across the country and abroad participate.
