'No GAIL employee arrested by CBI'

State gas utility GAIL India Ltd today said none of its employees has been arrested by CBI on graft charges.
Refuting reports of its employee being arrested by CBI yesterday, GAIL said, "Ashok Kumar Lal, a Deputy Collector in Government of Uttar Pradesh, is not an employee of GAIL. He joined GAIL on deputation on June 3, 2013.
"Subsequently as per provision of Petroleum and Mineral Pipeline Act 1962, the Govt of India authorized him to perform the function of Competent Authority for all pipelines of GAIL (India) Limited within the territory of U.P., Uttarakhand, Haryana and NCT of Delhi. As such he is not an employee of GAIL (India) Limited.
