A Special Investigation Team of state police was probing the case and government would not interfere in the investigation, Chennithala told reporters here.
Prime accused in the case was arrested after being caught by local people from his house. With this total number of persons arrested in the case has gone up to three.
Congress worker Haneefa (42), stated to be loyal to a group in the party, was stabbed to death in front of his mother at his house in Thiruvathra in Chavakkad in Thrissur district on August 7.
"It is for the police to investigate whether the murder is connected to factional issues in the party. As probe is going, it will not be proper for me to comment on the matter', he added.
