"Since we have been out of power, no new industry came to Haldia. Industrialists are afraid of those who are in power. Anti-social elements are raising their heads," former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said in an election meeting near here in East Midnapore district.
On Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's repeated allegation that the Centre was not releasing funds for the state, he said the state government should know why the funds were being held back and who were doing this.
He said CPI(M) could not be cowed down by sending summons to its leaders.
Two CPI(M) leaders -- Gautam Deb and Sujan Chakraborty who is also a Lok Sabha election candidate -- got summons from the police for questioning recently on the Saradha scam.
Lambasting both Congress and BJP, Bhattacharjee said while black money and unemployment increased during the UPA regime at the Centre, the BJP was trying to hand over the country to industrialists.
The Arjun Sengupta Committee, set up during UPA regime, said 77 per cent people of the country had daily income of up to Rs 20, which Bhattacharjee said shows the plight of the common people.
On the other hand, big industrialists donated money to BJP and the party wanted to hand over the country to them, he alleged.
"That's why, the new govt would be formed keeping aside both the BJP and the Congress," he said.
