Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday confirmed the death sentence of 14 "hardcore terrorists", who were involved in attacks on the armed forces and other law enforcement agencies and killing of innocent civilians.
Special military courts, set up after the Peshawar school attack of December 2014 for speedy trial of militants, awarded the death sentence to the terrorists, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army.
Twenty other terrorists have also been awarded jail terms by the courts, the statement said.
"The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) confirmed death sentence awarded to 14 hardcore terrorists, who were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism," according to the Army.
It said that they were convicted for attacking armed forces and other law enforcement agencies of Pakistan, destruction of communication infrastructure, police station, educational institution and killing of innocent civilians.
"On the whole, their terrorist activities resulted into death of 16 persons including 13 Armed Forces personnel and 3 civilians, whereas, injuring 19 others," the Army said.
On Sunday, Gen Bajwa confirmed the death sentence of 16 hardcore terrorists who were involved in the killings of innocent civilians and abetting the 2016 Christian Colony near Peshawar.
