This was in reply to a question by BJP member Suresh Khanna, who raised the matter of poor attendance of teachers in primary schools in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
"The government is not considering any scheme to install CCTV cameras in government primary schools as it was not in position to bear its financial budern. Also, the biometric device for attendance could also not be installed due to the same reason," Basic Education Minister, Ram Govind Chowdhury said during Question Hour.
The minister, however, said that the goverment was devising ways and taking other steps to ensure 100 per cent attendance of teachers in the schools and the work for the same is in progress.
