In the first 'Noir' genre film in Bengali, Shaororipu catches the six basic instincts in a man's mind.
Casting 'Chotuskone' actor Chiranjeet Chakraborty as a sleuth, shades different from his other portrayal in the garb of a fictional popular detective, Shororipu deals with five quick murders which rocked the city
"Dipakda (Chiranjit) portrays a detective who unravels mystery and also takes turn to boozing. But he is shades different from the role of a retired cop in Baishe Srabon by Prosenjit Chatterjee," he said.
Capturing six basic human instincts overpowering normal human beings in certain circumstances, the film talks about the dark alleys of human psyche, director Ayon Chakroborty told PTI here.
Noir is a French term and the genre of films was a product of the European cinema.
"It's called noir film where none of the characters are like the one we see regularly," he said adding Rudraneil's role as a diamond tester in a renowned jewellery store had also shades of weirdness which overtakes him after office duty every day.
'Shororipu refers to six vices - including kam (lust), krodh (anger), lobh (greed), matsarja, (desire) as envisaged in the oriental philosophy where the characters never behave rationally always," he said about the flick also casting Sohini Halder.
Actor Rudraneil Ghosh, having essayed a role of interchanging selfs in Hawa Bodol by director Parambrata Chatterjee, said, " Here my character is propelled by contrasting personalities and instincts."
"Happy that prresent day Bengali film directors are showing the inclination to shoot films with such varied contents," Rudraneil said.
