The North-Eastern Railways has decided to run Parcel Special Trains for uninterrupted transportation of essentials during the ongoing lockdown to contain COVID-19 outbreak, an official said on Monday.
It is already transporting coal, foodgrain, salt, fertilizers, perishables like onions and potatoes through freight trains.
For transportation in small quantity, it has been decided to run Parcel Special Trains, Chief Public Relation Officer Pankaj Singh said.
"The consignor has to make materials available at the nearest parcel office where demand is registered. All interested parties may contact nearest parcel office or divisional office for registering their demand," he said.
