Failure to undertake police verification of tenants in Goa will invite fine in the future, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the Assembly on Thursday.
Sawant was speaking in the Zero Hour where Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte raised the issue of increasing instances of chain snatching in his assembly constituency of Porvorim.
The chief minister conceded that many people (house owners) do not opt for verification of tenants with the local police station.
Stating that he would instruct the police department to ensure there is 100 per cent tenant verification, Sawant said those who fail to do it would be fined in the future.
