TV actor Ali Merchant may have found fame through daily soaps but he says he is no longer interested in doing such shows and wants to rather focus on his business.
The 29-year-old actor, who has appeared in several hit shows like 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki', 'Amber Dhara', 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', says he is currently heading a chemical company and the excessive globetrotting leaves him hardly any time for television shows.
"I am not open to do daily soaps. I am busy right now I am heading a chemical plant and for that I have to travel a lot. I have done daily soaps for seven years and I still get offers but I want to experience new things.
"I want to be known as a businessman. I want to focus on my business at the moment and I will not take up anything for the next one year at least. I have been travelling to Europe, Russia, Dubai. It is very adventurous for me," Ali told PTI.
The actor, who is best known for his much talked about wedding in reality show 'Bigg Boss - season 4' with Sara Khan, will be seen in upcoming episode of 'Yeh Hai Aashiqui -Disaster Series' on Bindass.
The show will mark Ali's return to the small screen after a gap of one year. He was last seen on TV in cooking-based reality show 'Welcome - Baazi Mehmaan-Nawaazi ki'.
"I said yes to 'Yeh Hai Aashiqui' because I like such shows - which have a beginning, middle and an end. I don't have the time for daily soaps. That is the reason I took a break for almost a year. The story of this show is very real and I was moved by it," he said.
Ali said it was great to be in front of the camera after a year-long sabbatical and the show was rejuvenating for him.
"I am happy to get back to TV with this show. I am playing the role of a Punjabi boy, Rudra, who comes from Punjab to Mumbai in search of something good, only to find himself get stuck in horrific floods. And amid all of this, he falls in love," he said.
