The NCP MP from Bihar said targeting the movies with Pakistani actors was unfair as the producers, directors and fellow artists involved in these films were Indians.
"This is a debatable issue because Indian producers have invested a lot in such films," he said.
The artistes who have drwan the ire of MNS include Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan, who is playing a supporting role in Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil". Pakistani actress Mahira Khan essays the lead role opposite Shahrukh Khan in "Raees", which will also mark her Bollywood debut.
Amid tension in the wake of the Uri attack that left 18 soldiers dead, the MNS had asked the Pakistani artistes to leave India immediately, failing which the shooting of their movies and screening will be stalled.
With many states gearing up for the respective Assembly elections next year, Anwar said the party was ready to align with "secular forces" to stop the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He added that the party will enter the fray with all its strength in Gujarat.
He claimed the voluntary Income Disclosure Scheme (IDS) under which tax evaders have to pay a hefty penalty has also received lukewarm response.
"Every community and section of society is disillusioned with this government," the NCP leader alleged.
