Not to open liquor vends in villages if Panchayats wish: CM

Haryana government will not open any liquor vend in the villages where the Gram Panchayats do not want them, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said here today.
Khattar said that those Gram Panchayats that would give a proposal in writing to the Government by January 31 next that no liquor vend be opened in their villages, the Government would not open any vend in such villages during the next financial year.
Khattar was presiding over a meeting of District Public Relations and Grievances Committee at Hisar today. In all, 13 cases were taken up in the meeting for redressal, an official release said.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to take stringent action in those cases where the liquor is being sold at places in the villages other than those of approved liquor vends.
While redressing a grievance, the Chief Minister directed the police to make adequate arrangements to prevent the incidents of theft in the city.
On being informed about spreading of crop diseases in the district, the Chief Minister directed the District Administration to conduct a survey of all crops and also prepare a report for the same.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary and local BJP MLA Kamal Gupta, main opposition INLD MP Dushyant Chautala, opposition Haryana Janhit Congress MLA Renuka Bishnoi, Deputy Commissioner Chander Shekhar, Mayor Municipal Corporation, Hisar Shakuntla Rajliwala, were also present in the meeting.
