Schemes including solar power packs, which the department has taken up, would be very useful for farm houses where electricity was not available, said director NRE T S Angami, while talking to reporters.
Another scheme which the department has taken up was the solar power pump where beneficiaries can pump water during day time and use the same device for domestic lighting at night, he said.
In both the projects, 50 per cent of the cost has to be borne by the beneficiaries.
Angami said the department has commissioned solar power plants in all government directorates including the state Civil Secretariat and Assembly and would be embarking on their next projects to cover all districts.
"Very soon the department will commission air water generator where solar energy will be used for converting air into water," he added.
