"CBI does its work on the basis of proofs. There is no need to draw any other conclusion (from the agency's actions)," he said.
His remarks came at Cabinet briefing in response to a question soon after Mayawati accused the government of misusing CBI after the agency decided to question her on the NRHM scam nearly four years after it surfaced.
The BSP Chief alleged the move reeked of "political vendetta".
Prasad also took poshots at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking why he is always looking for a "fight" and advised him to focus on governance instead.
"I want to say one more thing. Why a fight is necessary on all issues and with everyone. Fight with the Prime Minister, fight with the Home Minister, fight with (Lt Governor) Najeeb Jung," Prasad said.
He was reacting to a question over AAP denying reports that the Delhi government sold onions here at Rs 30 a kg after procuring it the kitchen staple at around Rs 18 a kg and put the blame on the Centre for this.
