NRI businessman to chair WBCSD in 2018

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has appointed NRI businessman Sunny Verghese, co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based Olam International as the new chairman of the organisation from 2018.
Sunny is the first ever Asian CEO to be appointed as Chair in World Business Council for Sustainable Development's (WBCSD) 25 years of history.
WBCSD is a global network of more than 200 CEOs who are responsible for a combined revenue of more than USD 8.5 trillion and 19 million employees.
Sunny will take over from Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever, whose chairmanship term ends on 31 December 2017.
"As a convenor and facilitator, WBCSD has already achieved significant success and I am looking forward to working with our 200-member companies to help galvanise even more private businesses to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world," said Verghese.

"Together, we can and must be the solution the world needs to create a sustainable future for all," said the Singapore-based CEO of Olam, a leading agri-business operation from seed to shelf in 70 countries.
