A Delhi court today granted bail to four out of the six arrested youths in connection with the death of NRI student Anmol Sarna, saying the Investigating Officer has not produced any "incriminating" material against any of them.
Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri granted bail to Anmol's friends, accused Madhav Bhandari, Pranil Shah, Shivank Gambhir and Ritham Girhotra, all in their 20s, while directing them to furnish a personal bail bond of Rs one lakh with one surety of the like amount.
"The Investigating Officer (IO) has failed to produce any incriminating material against the accused persons, that they have killed the deceased Anmol Sarna," the court said.
The court's order came on a request made by their counsel to grant them regular bail as the two security guards, who are the main accused in the case, have already been granted bail in the matter.
Anmol's parents, who were also present there at the time of the court order, said they will appeal against this bail decision in higher court.
Anmol's mother also requested the court to transfer the case to some other judge, to which the judge said she should file an application at the filing counter here so that the case may be assigned to some other judicial officer.
The four were released from jail on interim bail granted on October 7 and were supposed to surrender today.
Two security guards -- Surender Bali and Naresh Mishra -- arrested for allegedly assaulting Anmol leading to his death, had been granted bail on October 28.
