Aggrieved investors in the Rs 5,600 crore alleged NSEL scam have approached the Bombay High Court claiming shoddy probe by city police's Economic Offence Wing in the case and sought a special investigation team to be set up comprising CBI joint director and Police Commissioner.

The NSEL Investors' Action Group, in a petition filed before the High Court, has alleged that the present investigating agency is probing the scam in a poor, biased and ineffective manner at the behest of NSEL's directors.

The petition has sought a SIT to be set up comprising Commissioner of Police, Joint Director of CBI and Enforcement Directorate to probe the scam.

"The investigation is shoddy. Despite writing several letters to the investigating agency to initiate action against the auditors nothing is being done," the petition alleges.

The petition was filed recently and will come up for hearing in due course of time.

"The police have failed to investigate the scam effectively and in a proper perspective and have left out important angles. The investors who have lost their hard earned money have lost faith in the investigating agency and do not see any justice forthcoming," the petition claims.
