For achieving this goal, the PSU is undertaking enlistment of vendors and contractors for procurement of materials and work contracts on all-India basis, a senior official said today.
In this process, the company wants to involve each and every potential vendor/contractor so that no eligible player is left out of the tendering process, NTPC Regional Executive Director (South) R Venkateswaran told reporters here.
"In the process of power generation we have to buy a lot of spares and also take services of many agencies for maintaining and operating our plants. The extent of spares we use every year is approximately Rs 2,000 crore and the services are valued at Rs 1,600 crore across NTPC plants.
For future tenders of all power stations of NTPC, tender notices will be sent to only enlisted agencies, said Venkateswaran.
As a result only enlisted agencies can participate in NTPC tenders and other agencies who did not enlist themselves will be left out, he added.
"Under the new initiative, we are trying to enlist vendors for supply of our spares and services across all NTPC plants. Once the vendor gets enlisted they will be receiving inquires from all the (NTPC) plants across the country. This would benefit not only the vendors but also NTPC and we expect to get good quality products at reasonable prices."
On expansion plans in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, he said "We are working on a 4,000 MW super thermal project in Pudimadaka in Visakhapatnam and another project of same capacity at Ramagundam in Telangana. Almost 85 per cent of the power produced from these plants will be for home states (AP and Telangana)."
Both projects are still to get environmental nod.
"We have signed an MoU with AP Government for a 1,000 MW solar power project in Anantapur district. We are in process of finalising the first phase of it (250 MW)," he added.
