Speaking on the occasion, Delhi BJP Chief Harsh Vardhan claimed that this is the first Lok Sabha elections after 66 years of India's independence in which the people of the country have decided that this time they will ensure that BJP comes to power at Centre.
"The entire country is united and there is panic among the opposition parties. People are desperate to give their leadership to Narendra Modi," he said.
The JD (U) leaders who joined BJP include Diwakar Jha - Chief General Secretary, Surendra Gupta, Sunil Kashyap - General Secretary, Roopesh Rajan, Srinath Jha - Secretary, Dushyant Jha, Arvind Chaudhary, Bhuwanji Jha - District President and Mahila Morcha Vice President Poonam Jha.
Janta Dal (United) was once an alliance partner of BJP but the former broke the tie-up after BJP announced Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate. JD (U) President Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced the break up on June 16 last year.
Buoyed by the development, Vardhan claimed that the condition of Congress party is so pathetic that many of its leaders have fallen ill and in hospitals to avoid contesting elections.
"The leader of that party, which was nurtured by the people of Delhi (Aam Aadmi Party), Arvind Kejriwal is avoiding election from Delhi," he said.
