OC, constable caught accepting bribe

The state vigilance sleuths today arrested the Officer in-charge of Kharaundi Police station and a constable while accepting bribe from four villagers in Garwah district.
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Vigilance), Pranvas Tirkey, the vigilance team caught Officer in-charge of Kharaundi Police station Chandreswar Prasad Singh and constable Pramod Rai while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainants Ajit Yadav and three others of Kupa village, Superintendent of Police, Priyadarshi Alok said..
The victims had registered a complaint with the Vigilance department accusing the policemen of demanding bribe to release their pump, which was used to draw water.
The pump was stolen and later recovered by the police in January last, he said.
A local court had directed the police to release the pump and hand it over to its owner. However, the Officer in-charge and the constable were demanding bribe to release it.
