Delhi government today launched a drive to check cars with CNG stickers across the national capital following complaints that commuters are using fake markers to avoid being penalised for violating odd-even car-rationing rules.
CNG vehicles are exempt from the second phase of odd-even scheme but last time there were cases where diesel vehicles were found with fake CNG sticker.
However, no fake CNG sticker was found on any car by the enforcement wing of the Transport department.
Transport Minister Gopal Rai said the government has purchased a device through which genuineness of a CNG sticker can be checked.
Anyone found violating the rule, will be fined and a case of cheating will be registered against them, he added.
Indraprastha Gas Limited had issued CNG stickers to 3.90 lakh vehicles during the first phase of the scheme.
