Odisha Govt pays Rs 3 lakh ex-gratia to Laxman Rout's parents

The Kendrapara district administration today handed over a cheque of Rs three lakh to the parents of Laxman Rout, who along with his wife had committed suicide by jumping from a building in New Delhi after their son died of dengue.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had yesterday announced the Rs three lakh ex-gratia for the family of deceased Rout from CM's relief fund.
The district administration also provided Rs 10,000 to the parents of Laxman Rout from the district Red Cross fund.
The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Derabish, Pitambar Samal, also gave Rs 20,000 to the parents of Laxman under the national family scheme.
Laxman and his wife Babita of Jaguleipada village under Derabish block of Kendrapara district, jumped to death from the terrace of a four-storey building in South Delhi where they were staying on rent on September 8 last after their only son died of dengue without getting treatment.
Debraj Senapati, the district collector, said "The district administration will support the family of Laxman Rout in whatever way possible.
