An offence has been registered against the contractor of the barrage where five irrigation department engineers were killed after a portion of its wall caved in the district's Chinchwad area, police said today.
The offence under section 304 II (culpable homicide not amounting the murder) of the IPC was lodged against contractor Ravi Kumawat, of Swati Construction company at Jalgaon, last evening, Devla police said.
However, no arrest has been made so far in this connection.
The accident had taken place on July 29 in which five engineers lost their lives.
Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal had yesterday announced a high-level probe into the accident.
