One killed, five feared drowned as car falls into river

One person died while five others were feared drowned after a car in which they were travelling fell into Gori river in the district today.
The incident took place this morning at Balmara village on Jauljibi-Baram road in Dharchula sub division when the vehicle was on its way to Baram from Jauljibi town, police said.
The vehicle fell into the river apparently due to negligent driving, they said.
The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Singh of Garjia village. His body has been recovered, Dharchula SDM Bharat Singh said.
The vehicle and the remaining five passengers were swept away by the strong currents of the river, he said.

A search is being carried out by State Disaster Response Force and police personnel to trace the vehicle and the missing persons, he said.
