A group of dacoits raided the godown of a businessman at Kultali near Basanti in South 24 Parganas district and looted Rs five lakh, police said.
When the dacoits were fleeing some people gave them a chase. The dacoits then opened fire, injuring six persons, they said.
The six injured were rushed to Canning Hospital which referred them to National Medical College Hospital in Kolkata.
On the way, one of the injured Asit Manna succumbed to his injuries, the sources said.
