A group of wild buffaloes which came after crossing the Brahmaputra river began to attack people when locals began to chase them at Rajaduar area in North Guwahati.
The buffaloes attacked a cyclist, who was passing by, and some bystanders killing the former on the spot and injuring the others.
The dead has been identified as Kanak Barman and one of the injured, Sanjib Das, whose condition was stated to be critical was admitted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
The wild buffaloes were chased back across the Brahmaputra to the nearby jungles, sources said.
