A man has been killed in a shooting at a New York City concert venue where rapper T.I. was scheduled to perform Wednesday night, according to law enforcement officials.
The incident occurred backstage at about 10:15 p.M. In the third floor green room area of the Irving Plaza music venue, New York City Chief of Manhattan Detectives William Aubry said.
T.I. Was in the building, but two other people were performing at the time of the shooting, he said.
Video supposedly from inside Irving Plaza, located near Union Square, showed people frantically scrambling to leave the dance floor.
Irving Plaza has a capacity of approximately 1,000 people, its website says.
Aubry said at a news conference that the venue has metal detectors.
Four people in total -- three men and one woman -- were shot, according to NYPD Detective Hubert Reyes.
A 34-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 33-year-old man was shot in the stomach.
Two people were shot in the leg -- a woman, 26, and a 30-year-old man who walked himself to a nearby hospital.
T.I. Was also set to perform at a separate venue, the 1 OAK nightclub, later but authorities have shut it down, according to law enforcement sources.
Detectives have recovered ballistic evidence and are canvassing for video, Aubry said.
