A 72-year old man from Naura village in Palampur area of Kangra district died yesterday at Government Medical College hospital in Tanda (Kangra).
The test reports of his blood samples confirmed that he was infected with swine flu, state surveillance officer Dr Rajesh Guleri said.
State Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur yesterday reviewed the situation at a meeting and said that out of 37 samples of suspected swine flu six had tested positive.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that there was no need to panic and the state government was monitoring the situation regularly, adding that the government hospitals were fully equipped to deal with the situation.
He said that directions had already been issued to the all the health institutions in the State to deal with such cases on priority.
Chief Minister said that a special awareness campaign to educate the masses about the care and prevention from swine flu was being carried out and adequate arrangements had been made at all prominent religious places to keep check on the disease.
Besides, all the CMOs and BMOs in the districts have been directed to convene meetings with doctors in their respective areas and constantly review the arrangements from time to time.
