19-year-old Mohammad Jaffar alias Lalu was arrested from Tangra area by the detective department this afternoon, the officer said.
Jaffar used to cut open grills of windows to get into a house and open the main gate for his associates to enter.
A local court remanded Jaffar to police custody till October 10.
With Jaffar's arrest, eight persons of the gang, including its leader Lalchand, have been taken into the custody. Of the eight, two are women and two Bangladeshis.
Incidentally, West Bengal police have arrested a group of four persons, led by one named Rezzak, from Sonarpur area of South 24 Parganas district for dacoities recently.
"We are sure these two groups are parts of the same gang. We are trying to take the Rezzak group in our custody to investigate further," the officer said.
