The police has arrested one more person in connection with the attack on RTI activists Agnes Kharshiing on November 8, Meghalaya Home Minister James K Sangma said Thursday.
Earlier the police had arrested two persons in connection with the attack.
Agnes and her aide Amita Sangma were found unconscious at Sohshrieh area of East Jaintia Hills district after they were attacked allegedly by mining mafia.
"Today police has apprehended one more prime suspect, a lady, and as investigation proceeds I am very sure they will get more names of the people directly responsible for this (criminal act of violence)," James told media persons.
He said, "I can assure you that within 36 hours police were able to make arrest and today we have apprehended another person so things are moving in the right manner,".
The minister also assured swift action against the perpetrators.
