One sentenced for life, four others to 10 years imprisonment

One person was sentenced to life imprisonment and four others for ten years in a rape case by Additional District and Session Judge, Birbhum, Mahananda Das today.
According to a complaint lodged on September 29, 2014 by a teenaged girl with the Nalhati police station, one Saidul Seikh had kidnapped her and taken to Uttar Pradesh while she had been to the local grocery shop on September 16.
She was then taken to Moradabad and repeatedly raped by Saidul, who was assisted by Basir Khan, Abdul Seikh, Nasir Khan and Nargis Bibi.
The five accused were convicted under the POCSO Act, 2012.
Saidul would have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000, while the four others would have to pay Rs 5,000 each as fine, the court ordered.
