The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has suspended a Deputy General Manager rank officer after he was arrested on corruption charge, a company statement said today.
The officer, AK Singh, Deputy General Manager (Drilling) A K Singh was posted at the ONGC Assam asset and he was arrested by the CBI at Sivasagar in upper Assam yesterday on corruption charge.
The company statement said the ONGC would extend all support to the CBI in carrying out its investigation.
The ONGC officer was caught red-handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a person who had complained to the central investigating agency earlier that the DGM was demanding a bribe of Rs 12 lakh for passing his pending bills, a CBI press release said here yesterday.
