It's titled "Gandhi Sakshi Kayaka", a web-based user-friendly works monitoring system, RDPR Minister H K Patil told reporters here.
The workflow-based system, which also utilises Google Map, makes it mandatory for compulsory uploading of photos of different stages of works and related documents, failing which bills would not be generated, the Minister explained.
All RDPR projects, barring those related to drinking water and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, come under the initiative. "A control room and task force will also be formed to monitor the implementation of projects", he said.
It would constantly give an update on the progress of projects, it was noted. NIC would manage the system.
Details of development works of Karnataka Rural Road Development Agency, Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited and the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department would be incorporated in the system, officials said.
Officials said Karnataka government has also proposed a separate rural water supply and sanitation department for effective implementation and efficient monitoring of drinking water programmes in rural areas.
A Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University would be established to focus on rural development and panchayat raj and to promote suitable skills and competence in this area, it was noted.
