Senior Congress leader and state Tourism Minister Ghulam Ahmad Mir today said only Congress could give a stable government in the country.
"People should vote in favour of coalition (NC-Congress) candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Only Congress can give a stable government in the country," Mir said while addressing a public rally in Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir today.
He said National Conference and Congress parties were the only hope for development and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Congress had always safeguarded the interests of the state, he said.
"Liberal funding by the Central government also helped state's progress by leaps and bounds," he said.
"Under the present regime, the state is moving fast towards development and the coalition government always puts main thrust on development of rural areas," he said.
Empowering panchayats, creating new administrative units, setting up polytechnic colleges, developing infrastructure, connecting rural roads, developing cities by the implementation of flagship programmes like JNNURM, MNREGA, SSA and NRHM had brought the state on the road of progress and prosperity, he said.
He alleged that the "growing popularity" of the present coalition had induced a "sense of desperation and frustration" in PDP, which had triggered a panic reaction in them and they were "spreading lies" and "false propaganda".
